Just updated to OS X 10.11.2, running universal control 1.7.3, and now my Firestudio mobile unit won't work. Why Does Universal Control Say Version 1.6.5x for Universal Control 1.7.x on Mac? Apple MacBook Pro (late 2013), Mac OS Sierra 10.12.4, Logic ProX, Firestudio Project / Universal Control 1.6.5.
- Presonus Audio does support the use of the approved Apple Thunderbolt to firewire adapters on PC and Mac systems: Apple's Approved Thunderbolt to Firewire Adapter NOTE: Thunderbolt to Firewire Adapters do not produce enough bus power to properly user FireStudio Mobile units.

[This just in from Jessica Ramsey of Moon Honey! She offered some insights on using the FireStudio Mobile for memory loss aversion. ]
I suffer from melody-idea-loss-aphobia: the common fear that a melody will be lost forever if not immediately recorded. That said, the FireStudio Mobile was an invaluable tool for writing vocals on my new record. In two snaps, I’d hook it up to my laptop and lay down vocal demos. Thanks to Studio One I was able to try out my ideas, mixing lead and back up vocals on top of rough instrumental tracks the boys had already recorded.
I wrote and recorded a four-part vocal harmony for “The Ship” on my own bed at 3 a.m. I exported each harmony individually, so that when it came time to officially record the seven-minute-long epic of a song, I could play them back individually and nail them in one take… almost. The tracks were also extremely helpful when it came time to perform; I had four choir singers on stage with me at our last Manship Theatre show, and they learned/practiced their parts with the demo harmonies!

We’ve got a new album in the works, if you like what you hear in “The Ship,” why not throw in a little bit over at Kickstarter? You can pre-order the dreamy rock & roll album, or even have me cook a vegan dinner for you!
I sent you the directions for the quick uninstall / reinstall of the driver before, however sometimes that doesn't do a clean enough uninstall. Follow these directions to do a complete manual uninstall and reinstall of the Universal Control.
Just because Windows has the Add/Remove Programs feature it doesn't mean your application will appear in the list. Furthermore, even if it does appear, it's no guarantee that the uninstall feature will work.
*Be aware that these steps may not remove everything associated with the application and can impact other applications on the computer. Have a backup or restore point and use caution*
• First go to Start>>Control Panel>>Go to Programs and Features, find the drivers (your device and/or Universal Control) and remove.
• Next go to Start>>Computer>>Local Disk (C>>Program Files>>PreSonus and delete the device folder and/or the Universal Control folder. (It’s okay if it’s not there.)
• Go to Start>>Right click on Computer>>Select Properties>>Select Device Manager in the left column>>Go to Sound, Video and Game controllers. Find the PreSonus device, right click on it and uninstall.
Now we need to edit the system registry. First, disconnect your interface. (For the instructions below, 'Go to' means click on the '+' sign next to the indicated file to expand its contents. You will only be working in the left-side window of the Registry Editor, please ignore the right window completely.)
• Go to Start. Type Run>>Type in regedit and click enter>>Go to H_KEY_LOCAL MACHINE>>System>>Current Control Set>>Enum>>1394>>right click and delete the PreSonus key. If it gives you an error, then right click again, select permissions, select Allow for Full Control. Click ok. Right click on the file again and delete.
• Next go to H_KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>>Software>>PreSonus>>right click and delete the Devices folder.
• Next go to H_KEY_CURRENT_USER>>Software>>PreSonus folder. If you see a folder with your device name, right click and delete it.
• To remove the application entry from Add/Remove Programs (if present), navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionUninstall>>PreSonus and right click and delete the device folder in the title and/or Universal Control folder.
• Some applications have Services attached to them. If this is the case, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetServices, locate and delete the service.
Exit the registry editor.
Now delete any PreSonus drivers you downloaded to your hard drive. Empty your recycle bin and restart your computer. After that, restart and reinstall the latest device drivers from our website:

That should give you all you need to do a manual uninstall to remove all traces of a programme. Hope this helps.
Cheers
